The minimalist styling is reminiscent of Lian Li Computer Cases and looks fantastic. The HW_D600/ZA offers an extremely low power consumption Digital 5.1 out-of-the-box experience with...7.1 Bi or Tri AMP Options. For example, Dayton Audio offers some great audiophile-grade amplifier options for a little extra money or current requirements. To be clear, This is a 5.1 Native Solution with pre-amp outputs, including on-board decoding 7.1 capabilities. So future upgrades might include a pair of mono-bridged amplifiers to accommodate two additional surround sound back channels. OR you may want to consider the native 7.1 model instead. It will not directly support amplification of the additional channels. Also the on-screen display though... Easy to setup with the on-screen-display. The iPod interface works well and I really like the integral amplified sub-woofer output that eliminates the need for an external sub-woofer amplifier. However, the back speakers for 7.1 (or 5.1 with Zone 2) output low level and therefore require an external stereo amp. Another annoyance is the 1" spacing of the speaker banana plugs (standard spacing is 3/4") - the obvious workaround is to attach speaker wires with single plugs or bare wire. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance and value for this HDMI switching receiver. |
