4.0 out of 5 stars Good experience so far, November 27, 2011

This review is from: Samsung HTD4500 HTIB 5.1 CH 2D Blu-Ray 1000-Watts Home Theater System (Electronics)
I purchased this HTIB for $200 and have been impressed thus far. As with any HTIB, this system is designed to work right out of the box with it's own components. While the speakers are in plastic enclosures and the sub in a particle board one, the sound is surprisingly decent. Don't expect the highest fidelity sound and if you're an audiophile, skip this and get something more expensive. I've not had any problems with it so far. To me, there is a surprising number of features that this kit makes affordable. I was pleased to see that it supports Netflix, Hulu Plus and Pandora. Samsung has a variety of apps that you can install that allow the system to do more.

Features:
Two features I can't wait to try out are the HDMI+CEC that Samsung has incorporated into their newer TV's and sound systems and the Samsung Remote App. With HDMI+CEC feature, you can control your Blu-ray player or receiver and TV with the same remote, no more hunting down 3 or 4 different remotes. 4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, November 27, 2011
This review is from: Samsung HTD4500 HTIB 5.1 CH 2D Blu-Ray 1000-Watts Home Theater System (Electronics)
This home theater in a box isn't going to wow any true audiophile - nor is it meant to.

It's an inexpensive system designed to improve on the (most likely) horrible sound quality of your flat panel TV. It does everything it's supposed to do, and does a decent job at doing it.

The speakers are the same quality of speakers you would get with any "in a box" system of this budget. They are hard plastic on all sides (the grill is also plastic, not fabric, which is probably more durable anyway with my kids). The speakers have a keyhole type slot in the back for a screw if you wanted to hang them on the wall. All the speakers have there length of speaker cable permanently attached to them (which is also very common with box home theater systems). Each length of cable has a colored connector on the end so when you are plugging them into the receiver, it's easy to know where they go. If you need more cable for the back speakers, you could splice in additional wire... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for movies, not so excellent for music, December 6, 2011
This review is from: Samsung HTD4500 HTIB 5.1 CH 2D Blu-Ray 1000-Watts Home Theater System (Electronics)
Just like many of you, I purchased this on Black Friday 2011. The blu-ray player is great (I honestly don't know how I survived so long with standard definition movies!) and the speakers are excellent. You don't need a A/V receiver to hook them up, they plug right into the back of the blu-ray player - even the subwoofer. As I said before, they sound phenomenal for movies. The bass is there. The surround sound is there. I have these hooked up in my bedroom and I'm considering getting a second set for my living room because the setup is so painless and you don't need any additional hardware. Not to mention, the blu-ray has a ton of connection ports to plug in there to power your entire home system. I have a bluetooth receiver plugged into the AUX port (so that I can wirelessly listen to music from my phone or my laptop), and my Xbox 360 plugged into it through the fiber optic cable, and everything just works flawlessly and sounds great. I highly recommend this product. However, if you... Read more
